Grove Park Camp (1946-57)
Grove Park Camp (1946-57): Polish stories of resettlement in Slough tells the story of Grove Park Camp, one of hundreds of resettlement camps set up throughout the UK after the Second World War to accommodate displaced Polish soldiers and their families.
It offers a unique window into what daily life was like for the Grove Park community, who were among the first of many generations of Polish people to settle in Slough in recent decades.
Please note:
Because of the nature of the Gallery space at The Curve, the exhibition is open every Tuesday and Saturday between 10am and 5pm and there will be a volunteer in attendance.
Free to attend - no need to book.

The exhibition uses photographs held by former residents and their descendants to offer a unique window into what daily life was like for Grove Park residents, who were among the first of many generations of Polish people to settle in Slough in recent decades.
It places a spotlight on the traditions and cultural practices that Grove Park residents turned to in order to recreate a ‘home away from home’, and seeks to connect these more broadly to the common experiences of Slough’s diasporic population, including the town’s multigenerational Polish community.
These elements will be narrated from the perspective of former Grove Park residents who will share their memories from the camp in their own words.
Visitors are invited to view the exhibition on Tuesdays and Saturdays. All exhibition texts will appear translated into English and Polish.
Please note because of the nature of the Gallery space at The Curve, the exhibition is only open every Tuesday and Saturday between 10am and 5pm and there will be a volunteer in attendance. This event is free to attend and there is no need to book.
Organised by Maria Creech, Frania Creech and former Grove Park residents.
